House Cleaning Tips

• Clean the Microwave – A clean microwave is an important part of residential cleaning. Put about a half cup of water into a measuring cup or a bowl. Squeeze lemon juice into the bowl and add the lemon halves. Microwave on high for about 3 minutes. Leave the door to the microwave shut for 5 minutes. The steam trapped inside the microwave will loosen any stuck on food. After removing the bowl from the microwave wipe it clean.
• Remove Stains from Laundry – When it comes to removing tough stains from your white laundry, bleach is not the only tool at your disposal. Add a half a cup of lemon juice to a load of white laundry and let it air dry in the sun. The lemon juice will help to leave your whites looking bright and fresh.
• Cutting Board- Cleaning cutting boards is often something that is missed in residential cleaning. Wood cutting boards can start to stain and absorbs the smells of the foods that are prepared on them. Cut a lemon in half and top it with coarse salt. Rub the board with the lemon to remove stains and deodorize the cutting board. This will extend the life of your cutting board as it will keep it clean and scent free.
• Remove hard water – Hard water can be very difficult to remove but a lemon can be a very helpful tool in your battle against water spots. Sprinkle baking soda or salt onto a cut lemon and rub directly on water spots. This particular trick will work especially well on your shower head.

When it comes to residential cleaning some jobs will need a little more than the lemon has to offer, but for some lighter cleaning tasks lemon mixed with a little elbow grease can go a long way. So next time your home needs a little tlc look no further than your fruit bowl.
