How to Clean Your Window Sills & Tracks
A lot of the time when we’re cleaning the windows we unintentionally forget to clean the window sills and tracks. Although we tend to do this without thinking about it, those areas need to be cleaned too. The last thing you want to do is walk over to your nice clean windows only to look down and see the track filled with dirt and grime. Consider the following as a guide to help you routinely clean your window sills and tracks.
Cleaning Window Sills
Just like the baseboards of a wall your window sills also attract their fair share of dirt and dust. Especially if you find yourself lucky enough to live in a warm climate that allows you to open the windows often. But with every blessing comes a burden and the burden in this situation just happens to be cleaning the window sill. Don’t worry, it’s not too difficult.
What you’ll need:
- Spray bottle
- Microfiber rag
- Dishwashing detergent
- Lukewarm water
Cleaning the window sills isn’t a time-consuming task. In fact, it’s fairly easy and can be done in no time. Take your spray bottle, fill it with lukewarm water, and then add a few drops of dishwashing detergent to create your solution. Apply the solution to the microfiber cloth and gently wipe down the sills of the window. Then you can take a dry cloth and wipe them down to prevent oversaturating sill. And that’s pretty much it. Easy huh?
Cleaning Window Tracks
No matter how much you open your windows, it’s almost inevitable for bugs, dust, and dirt to find their way into the track. Don’t believe me? Go check it out for yourself. For this reason alone, cleaning the window tracks should be apart of your regular cleaning routine.
What you’ll need:
- Vacuum with a crevice tool
- Putty knife
- Disposable wipes
- Microfiber cloth
Unlike cleaning the window sills you’re going to begin this task by preparing the track using the crevice tool on your vacuum. Start by sucking up all the loose bugs and dirt and then take your disposable wipe and wrap it around your putty knife to remove any other buildup on the track.
