Household Items You May Be Cleaning too Often
It’s important to maintain a consistent cleaning schedule so that you can keep up with the chaotic clutter and harmful germs out of your home. However, you may be shocked to learn that not every household item needs to be sterilized constantly. Some items you could be cleaning too often. Yep, you heard that right. You can take a break from certain household chores as you might be overdoing it.
This might come as a surprise to you but pillows don’t require a trip to the laundry room every week. Truthfully you only need to wash your pillows every three months or so. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t wash your pillow covers. You should definitely be washing those each time you wash your bed set. But the actual pillow itself can wait a little while.
The Oven
Most ovens either get cleaned too often or not often enough. It’s tough to find the middle ground for oven cleaning. Of course, accumulating food debris should be removed when you’re done cooking. But the actual oven doesn’t need to be deep cleaned after each use. With a good wipe down each week, you only need to deep clean your oven twice a year.
Unless you’ve encountered a stain, you only need to have your upholstery covers serviced at the dry cleaners a couple of times a year. If you did encounter a stain on one of your furniture covers then you should clean it immediately. But if not, there’s no need to clean them often. Unless you happen to live in a house where there’s animals or smoking then you might need to increase your dry cleaner visits to once every three months.
The Pantry
No need to pillage your pantry each week looking for expired food. Your pantry is different from your refrigerator in the sense that dry goods tend to last longer. And I mean, way longer. Depending on what type of food you buy most canned goods last up to a year. Save yourself some trouble and leave the pantry alone.
Wood Furniture
Wooden furniture is another item that you may be cleaning too often. Did you know that using too much furniture polish can actually remove the shine and damage the wood? Well, you know now! You only need to polish your furniture once a month. If you need to wipe down the furniture, just take a microfiber cloth to it.
